Mark Mothersbaugh
Mark Allen Mothersbaugh (; born May 18, 1950) is an American musician and composer. He came to prominence in the late 1970s as co-founder, lead singer and keyboardist of the new wave band Devo, whose " Whip It" was a top 20 single in the US in 1980, peaking at No. 14, and which has since maintained a cult following. Mothersbaugh is one of the main composers of Devo's music. In addition to his work with Devo, Mothersbaugh has made music for television series, films and video games via his production company, Mutato Muzika. He composed the music for the 13-year run of the animated series ''Rugrats'' and its three related theatrical films. He has created film scores for Wes Anderson and for Marvel Comics films. Enigma Records (also known as Enigma Entertainment Corporation) was a popular rock and alternative American record label in the 1980s. History Enigma Records launched as a division of Greenworld Distribution, an independent music importer/distributor, in 1981. Four years later, in 1985, Enigma severed ties with Greenworld and became its own company. Richard Kirk
Richard Harold Kirk (21 March 1956 – 21 September 2021) was an English musician who specialised in electronic music. His career began as a co-founder of the influential industrial music band Cabaret Voltaire, formed in 1973. He subsequently released projects under his own name and a number of aliases, and was a member of various groups such as Sweet Exorcist. Kirk was considered a major figure in the creation of industrial music. Background Kirk first came to prominence in the 1970s as a member of the seminal industrial band Cabaret Voltaire. He cited a wide range of musicians, including Stockhausen, John Cage and Fela Kuti, as inspiring his work. ''Muzik for Insomniaks, Volume 1 and Volume 2'' is a two-studio album series by Devo's co-founder and lead singer Mark Mothersbaugh. They were originally released in 1988, the same year as Devo's seventh studio album ''Total Devo'', on the labels Enigma and Rykodisc. The albums consisted entirely of instrumentals that were performed in the style of easy listening muzak or new-age music similar to Devo's compilation album ''E-Z Listening Disc'', released the previous year. Both of the albums were produced, written, arranged, programmed and performed by Mothersbaugh himself and engineered and mixed by former Devo keyboardist and guitarist Bob Casale. Mutato Muzika is an American music production company established and owned by Devo co-founder and lead singer Mark Mothersbaugh in 1989. The name is a portmanteau of the words ''mutant'' and ''potato'', a nod to Mothersbaugh's longstanding fascination with mutants and mutation, and to Devo fans, whom the band dubbed "spuds," early on.
